Frequently Asked Questions

Find detailed answers to common questions about our technology, integration, and partnership opportunities.

Business & ROI

How long does it take to see a Return on Investment (ROI)? +
Typically within the first 3 to 6 months. Preventing a single major unplanned breakdown and the associated production halt often covers the cost of the SKOLDERN system for several years.
Do you offer a Proof of Concept (PoC) or trial? +
Yes. We offer a rapid, time-bound Paid Pilot Program. We connect the SKOLDERN AI system to a select number of your critical assets or systems so you can validate the AI accuracy and calculate actual cost savings in your own factory with minimal upfront commitment.
Is this system suitable for small factories, or does it require a huge budget? +
SKOLDERN is suitable for all factories and does not require a large budget. It is highly scalable, affordable, and easy to use for all technicians, making enterprise-grade AI accessible to everyone.
How many machine types does SKOLDERN AI support? +
Our advanced AI supports a massive range of machines out of the box, including pumps, motors, compressors, CNC machines, HVAC systems, generators, and turbines. We cover 54+ categories natively.

AI & Diagnostics

Why is SKOLDERN's AI superior to general-purpose AI models? +
General-purpose AI is built for broad pattern recognition, but industrial machinery operates on complex physics. SKOLDERN uses Physics-Informed AI trained on high-frequency mechanical harmonics and electrical transients. It understands the specific DNA of industrial assets, follows strict standards such as ISO parameters, and uses industrial training data including NASA-derived datasets.
How does SKOLDERN differ from traditional threshold-based monitoring systems? +
Traditional systems are reactive: they alert only when a parameter such as temperature exceeds a preset limit. SKOLDERN is predictive. It identifies subtle mathematical shifts in machine behavior weeks before they reach a critical threshold, while the equipment can still appear normal to other systems.
How is SKOLDERN AI superior to proactive inspection? +
Proactive inspection relies on humans taking manual readings intermittently. SKOLDERN continuously processes high-frequency multi-sensor data 24/7, catches micro-anomalies, and predicts downtime mathematically long before humans would notice a problem.
Does the AI identify what needs to be fixed, or just indicate that there is a fault? +
SKOLDERN provides a precise diagnosis of likely root causes. Instead of a vague alert like "high vibration," the system can issue warnings such as: "85% probability of bearing wear on Motor #3. Inspection recommended within 14 days."
Does the system understand the relationship between different machines and the factory environment? +
Yes. SKOLDERN is context-aware and does not analyze machines in isolation. By analyzing data across multiple points, it can distinguish between a localized machine fault and a systemic issue, helping pinpoint the location and root cause within the broader factory ecosystem.
How does SKOLDERN prevent false alarms and noise? +
SKOLDERN is built to eliminate alarm fatigue. Its multi-stage filtering and context-aware analysis differentiate between transient operational noise, scheduled load changes, and genuine mathematical failure signatures. This keeps alerts reliable, verified, and actionable.

Integration & Deployment

Do we need to modify our factory systems? +
No. Integrating SKOLDERN is extremely easy. It does not require changes, modifications, or specialized equipment in your factory system. It connects non-invasively to what you already have running.
Will SKOLDERN AI cause any interference with our existing PLC or SCADA control logic? +
No. SKOLDERN is designed as a read-only analytical layer. It listens to and processes data without sending commands back to your machine control logic. This protects operational safety and prevents accidental shutdowns or interference with production settings.
What happens if we have legacy machines with no digital output at all? +
We have you covered. For older machines without sensors or communication ports, we provide SKOLDERN Edge Sensors: non-invasive, high-precision vibration and thermal clips that can be attached quickly without wiring into the machine internal board.
Is SKOLDERN specialized in a specific industry, or is it a universal solution? +
SKOLDERN is a cross-industry platform. It monitors the mechanical and electrical DNA found in most industrial assets, including motors, pumps, and compressors. It can support sectors such as food processing, heavy manufacturing, facilities, and high-tech hospitals because it focuses on machine health.
How much historical data do you need to start predicting failures? +
Historical data accelerates learning, but it is not a prerequisite. SKOLDERN pre-trained models start delivering value by establishing an accurate real-time baseline for each machine within the first few days of operation.
What happens when we add new machines to our facility? +
The system is highly scalable. You can add new assets to your dashboard in minutes.
Can the system be installed on our private servers (On-Premise)? +
Yes, but under specific conditions that are discussed and agreed upon during the contracting phase.
Does the system support renewable energy and green energy testing? +
Yes.
Is there a maximum limit for factory area or size? +
No. The platform is scalable and can support factories of different sizes and multi-site operations.

Operations & Maintenance

Does the SKOLDERN system replace our existing maintenance team? +
No, it empowers them. SKOLDERN acts as a 24/7 digital assistant. It eliminates tedious manual inspections and enables engineers to focus on high-value repairs and strategic planning, transforming them from reactive troubleshooters into proactive planners.
How will the maintenance team receive alerts? +
Alerts can be delivered via email, SMS, or directly into your existing Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Alert thresholds and routing can be customized based on severity levels and shift schedules.
What happens if our factory loses internet connection? +
SKOLDERN utilizes smart Edge Computing technology. Local gateways continue to collect and buffer data during an outage. Once the connection is restored, the data is synchronized with the cloud with zero loss in analytical continuity.
Is it difficult to train our staff to use the software? +
Not at all. SKOLDERN was designed for industrial engineers and technicians, not data scientists. The dashboard is highly intuitive and visual, requires less than an hour of training to master, and includes multi-language support.
How are reports generated, and how can I keep data locally? +
An engineering report in PDF format is generated every hour, along with a daily summary report, totaling 25 reports per day. You can download reports to your device, review them, add notes before printing, and download reviewed data and programming codes directly.

Security & Data

Is our data secure? +
Absolutely. We prioritize data sovereignty. All data is encrypted using TLS 1.3 in transit and AES-256 at rest. We provide account-isolated cloud storage and can offer on-premise deployments for classified or high-security environments.
Is there any third-party access to our production data? +
No. SKOLDERN is built around data isolation and confidentiality. Your industrial data is handled inside secure, account-isolated environments and is processed by systems designed specifically for industrial analysis.
Who owns the data generated from our machines? +
You do. Your factory remains the owner of its operational data and reports. SKOLDERN processes that data only to deliver monitoring, diagnostics, and predictive maintenance services under your agreement.
Do you use our industrial data to train models for other customers? +
No. Customer environments are isolated, and your production data is not shared across accounts for external model training. Any model improvements are handled under strict data-governance controls.
How do you control access inside the platform? +
Access is role-based. You can assign permissions by user responsibility, limit who can view specific assets or reports, and maintain controlled access for plant teams, managers, and service providers.
Can we export or delete our data if we stop using the service? +
Yes. You can request data export and controlled data deletion according to contract terms and applicable regulations. This helps ensure business continuity and compliance at offboarding.
